A collective REPHOTO project
The stress of managing the ship had previously been taking its toll on my own photographs but not any more. In the last few weeks, I have rediscovered what it is like to make pictures as an artist/photographer and I thought I would add a few examples here in the hope it might inspire someone or brighten someone's day.
The images are an evolution of my early Challenger work and continue to employ the same type of lens as used by the Challenger photographers. However, these pictures seek also something of the picturesque – something that the onboard artist J.J. Wild knew something about when he sat in the landscape of places visited and drew what he saw to the best of his ability. I have sought something similar with what I have always tended to call home:
Although the pictures are of England and are photographs of what is present, they serve as a reminder of how I have come to see England from my memory, or maybe as how I wish to see it. There are more but it may be unnecessary to show them all here.
It feels good to be in the mindset again.
